Judy Chicago's Nine Fragments from the Delta of Venus is an erotic series of nine prints adapted from excerpts of her friend and mentor Anais Nin's Delta of Venus. In a postscript, Nin noted that she wanted to upend the traditional forms of erotica written from a male perspective, which was devoid of sufficient depictions of a woman’s particular sensuality. Chicago reimagined excerpts of Nin's text as a visual representation of women’s experiences, fantasies, and desires.
